Ready for Counters

ready for countertop

The countertop is ready, and will be installed Monday morning. While K cut some cardboard to catch any crud that might drop into the cabinets, I finished securing the last cabinet and getting ready for the countertop. It's an exciting step, because once the countertop is in, I can install the sink, disposal and dishwasher. We're particularly excited about the last one. While we're doing OK with takeout and microwaved food, we've gotten tired of doing dishes in the bathroom sink.

The cabs look great---did you build them yourself? If not, where did you get them? One of these days we have to start moving on replacing ours, so I'm starting to scout out good local shops....

Alas, I'm not that talented. These are KraftMaid from Home Depot. We also looked at H&H Cabinet (off High St.) and EcoHome Improvement. These were the cheapest by far, but are still good quality cabinets. Solid wood fronts, plywood sides, and well put together. The money we didn't spend on the greener cabinet options we're instead putting into recycled glass + concrete countertops, which are one of the pricier options.
